Meet Alisha

Alisha Jacob is a 23-year-old actor based in Melbourne, Australia. A Kiwi with Indian roots, her passion for the performing arts began at 14.

This early interest evolved into a deep commitment to the craft, with formative roles in productions such as Shakespeare’s Othello and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, both of which led her to the renowned Sheilah Winn Shakespeare Festival in Wellington.

In 2022, Alisha took on the titular role in Antigone, Jean Anouilh’s contemporary reimagining of the Greek tragedy, and collaborated with internationally acclaimed choreographer-director Ross McCormack in Mimic Another, a physical theatre work that deepened her exploration of movement-based storytelling.

She also devised and performed a solo work titled Mannequin Talk, which ran for a five-day season, and was widely recognised for her comedic and eclectic portrayal of the Mayor Maria in Albert Belz’s The Birthday Girl—a highlight of her time in training.

Alisha’s screen work includes lead performances in several short films, notably the one-shot film Blue Lights, and Flowers of Eventide, a project she co-created that intimately explores the complexities of grief. She has also lent her voice to the Radio New Zealand audiobook Fake Baby, and expanded her artistic presence into fashion, modelling for local brands such as Annie and Sum of its Parts.

A graduate of Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School, Alisha’s formal training has seen her work with some of the country’s most respected mentors, including Miranda Harcourt, Jennifer Ward-Lealand, and Cohen Holloway.

Currently, she is developing a new work with Indian Ink Theatre Company, one of New Zealand’s most celebrated and enduring theatre companies. The project is set to premiere in November 2025, marking an exciting next chapter in her growing career.

With a strong foundation in both classical and contemporary performance, Alisha is committed to evolving as an artist and storyteller, with aspirations that span both national and international stages.
